Bey Rivals Surnames: Every Known Surname, Buffs and Odds

Bey Rivals surnames: what they do, every known surname with its buffs, normal and Lucky Spin odds, the pity counter and the second surname slot.

4 min readLast checked Sources

Bey Rivals surnames are the family names your blader rolls in this Roblox spinning-top battler from BBR Productions, and each one adds stat boosts and a passive buff to your fights. The odds and the Kurena and Aoba details below come from the in-game rate screen and the developer's Discord patch notes, as recorded by fan trackers; the developer does not publish them on Roblox, and we have not tested them ourselves.

What Bey Rivals surnames do

A surname is separate from your bey. You roll it on its own Surname tab, with normal surname spins or Lucky Spins, not on the layer, disc and driver banners covered in the Bey Rivals spin rates guide. Each surname gives small stat boosts, such as +1 SPD or +2 DEF, plus a passive. Surnames run from Common to Mythic; the bey itself is covered in the Bey Rivals parts guide.

Every known surname

34 surnames were in the index on October 18, and De La Hora was added on October 25. Only six Bey Rivals surnames have published details, so the table lists those and skips the rest.

SurnameRarityEffect
NakagawaNot published+1 SPD and your spin lasts 2% longer
BrunelNot published+2 DEF and 7% less knockback taken
KurenaLegendary+2 ATK and +2 DEF. Crimson Eye: +12% burst damage against Attack types, and crushes need 9% less wear. Legacy Bond with Surge Spriggan: +2 ATK, DEF and STA
AobaNot publishedNever Give Up: while you spin slower than your rival, +30% burst damage and 15% less damage taken (reworked October 22)
ShirasagiMythicDescribed only as the rarest family; effect not shown
De La HoraMythicAdded October 25; effect not published

Nakagawa and Brunel are described the same way in two places. Kurena rests on one creator's screen from October 18.

Bey Rivals surnames odds

A normal surname spin and a Lucky Spin use different odds:

RarityNormal spinLucky Spin
Common60%Never
Rare26.5%55%
Epic10%30%
Legendary3%12.5%
Mythic0.5%2.5%

By our arithmetic, a Mythic is about 1 in 200 on a normal spin and 1 in 40 on a Lucky Spin, and a Legendary is about 1 in 33 and 1 in 8. The normal rate screen also shows a pity bar: a Legendary or better is guaranteed within 80 normal spins. Both tables come from single creator screens, the normal one from October 18, so they may have moved.

Lucky Spins and the second slot

A Lucky Spin never lands a Common surname. Lucky Spins come mostly from codes and can be bought with Robux, so redeem the working Bey Rivals codes first. The Bey Rivals BP guide lists every source.

The second surname slot is a Robux purchase; the price is not published, and it is not one of the three Bey Rivals game passes. Its job is protection: keep a good surname in one slot while you keep spinning on the other.

Best surname

No ranking of Bey Rivals surnames is published, so this follows only from the stated effects:

  • Kurena is the strongest published pick against Attack types: +12% burst damage against them, plus +2 ATK and +2 DEF. Its bond with Surge Spriggan adds +2 to ATK, DEF and STA, though that bey has been nerfed twice (see the Bey Rivals tier list).
  • Aoba is the comeback pick: +30% burst damage and 15% less damage taken, but only while you spin slower than your rival.
  • Brunel suits defensive builds with +2 DEF and 7% less knockback.
  • Nakagawa is a light boost: +1 SPD and a 2% longer spin.

The Mythic surnames, Shirasagi and De La Hora, have no published effects, so they cannot be ranked yet. Do not assume a higher rarity beats Kurena.

October 25 change: no more surname crits

The October 25, 2026 update stopped surnames from landing critical hits. Surnames that used to crit now add a little extra damage to beys that are already worn down, so a bey at full strength cannot be burst out of nowhere. Which surnames were affected is not published, so treat older videos that show surname crits as out of date. The same update reworked ranked matchmaking (see Bey Rivals ranked), and Bey Rivals updates has the full patch list.

34 surnames were in the index on October 18: 1 Mythic, 3 Legendary, 4 Epic, 8 Rare and 18 Common. De La Hora, a second Mythic, was added on October 25, and no updated total is published.

What is the best surname in Bey Rivals?

Going by the stated effects, Kurena is the best published pick against Attack types and Aoba is best for comebacks. The Mythic surnames cannot be judged because their effects are not published.

Can a Lucky Spin give a Common surname?

No. A Lucky Spin never lands a Common. Its odds are Rare 55%, Epic 30%, Legendary 12.5% and Mythic 2.5%.
